Support the Museum

Interested in donating objects to the Museum of Information Explosion?

At the Museum of Information Explosion, we think the story of communication and computing technology is amazing! To help share the tales of discovery and the innovators who made it happen, we seek to provide the public with a rich and diverse collection of historic and significant equipment and artifacts that encourage discussion, teaching, and curiosity. To help meet these goals, the museum collects primarily in these areas:

  • Early experiments in electromagnetism
  • Telegraph equipment
  • Unique telephones, radios and televisions
  • Early and significant computing devices
  • Aesthetically unique items
  • Special attention is given to items which are rare and represent the most significant advancements in electrical and electronic arts.

Equipment need not be in working order to be useful, however, donated items should be free from significant damage.

How to donate:

Items offered to the Museum of Information Explosion must be relevant to our mission and must also meet the criteria that is set forth in our collections policy. A Collections Committee will carefully consider each item offered for donation. The museum is grateful for every offer received and we must make wise decisions on how to grow the collection for the future.

To have an item considered for donation, please contact Tony Hodgson, Museum Business Director, by phone 832.317.3703 or email us on our Contact page.

The museum will not purchase objects offered for consideration nor provide appraisals. Donations to 501(c)(3) organizations are often tax deductible, please check with your financial advisor.

How will my donation be used?

Some objects donated to the museum will be placed on temporary or permanent exhibit, while others will be used in our educational programs. All objects are treated with the highest professional care in the hopes that they will educate many generations to come!

Thank you for your interest and desire to support the Museum of Information Explosion.
